The editors didn't like

  • Expensive in its field

  • Fixed screen
  • Some design features lost

  • Abstract:  In our Canon G15 review our testing team asks whether the G15′s new f/1.8-2.8 5x zoom lens is the best ever in a Canon G camera. Watch the video review below to find out how this new Canon camera fared.Lost amid the full-frame frenzy at Photokina 2012 was...

  • Canon's PowerShot G15 is an upgrade to the PowerShot G12, keeping in the same price range for anyone that does not want to upgrade to the much more expensive PowerShot G1X. With almost a complete overhaul to the inside of the camera, the G15 sports a 1...

  • Abstract:  Don’t know about you, but I shudder when I read that a camera company has described a lens or a camera as being ‘bright’.I presume they mean that the lens involved is what used to be described as ‘fast’ … you know, with a maximum aperture of f1.5 or f2...

  • Fast f/1.8-2.8 lens, Full 1080p HD video recording, 10 fps continuous shooting at full resolution, Much improved screen resolution, 1cm minimum focusing distance, Excellent image quality, Images are usable throughout the ISO range, Plenty of creativity mo
  • Some may have preferred the articulating screen that the G12 had, Using the optical viewfinder may be a little uncomfortable for some, Price puts it up there with mirrorless cameras and entry-level DSLRs
  • The G12 has been sitting at the top of our best serious compact cameras article for some time now and we were expecting great things from the G15 and we certainly aren't disappointed. It's scored almost exactly the same, just missing out on value for mone...

  • In addition to a great, fast lens, the Canon PowerShot G15 has a nice, streamlined shooting design and produces very nice photos
  • It's humbled by a somewhat limited feature set and ho-hum performance
  • The Canon PowerShot G15 continues the G-series tradition of solid advanced compacts, but doesn't rank as best in class by any particular measure.

  • Abstract:  The Canon PowerShot G15 is a new premium compact camera aimed at the DSLR owner looking for a backup model or the enthusiast who wants DSLR functionality without the added size and weight. The Canon G15 has a 12.1 megapixel 1/1.7-type CMOS sensor, DIGIC 5...

  • Slim and well made body, Fast AF and startup, Excellent video, Very good AWB performance
  • No parallax correction in viewfinder, Some image processing issues, Chromatic aberration, Price
  • Canon has made some welcome changes here over the previous G12. With a fast AF system and speedy Raw write times the camera lends itself well to street photography, and while image quality is good it's not quite as good as expected. Ultimately, while ...

  • As long as you are OK knowing that the the image quality is stuck a notch below larger-sensor cameras, most of the G15s other attributes are a pleasure. It costs $50 more than the Panasonic LX-7, which we liked a lot. Then, for $100 more, you can get the...

  • Very good photo quality, with betterthanaverage performance at high sensitivities, Welldesigned camera with solid build quality, Fast F1.82.8, 5X optical zoom lens (28 140 mm equivalent), Optical image stabilization, with new Intelligent IS feature, Supersharp 3inch LCD display (too bad it's a fixed one), Optical viewfinder is always a bonus, Full manual controls, including RAW support, Smart Aut
  • Likes to clip highlights (hint: use DR correction), Redeye a problem (though removal tool in playback mode helps), Rotating LCD will be missed, ISO fixed at 80 at shutter speeds below 1 second, Movies are a bit choppy due to 24 fps frame rate; no manual controls available, Can't access memory card when using a tripod, Cheapo bundle puts manual on CDROM, doesn't even include a USB cable anymore
  • Conclusion The Canon PowerShot G15 is a premium compact camera, sitting one rung lower than its larger-sensored sibling, the PowerShot G1 X. The G15 fixes many of the issues that were found on its predecessor (the PowerShot G12 -- there was no G13 or ...
